Ok mommas let’s talk.
With baby #3’s due date coming up in 8 short weeks I have been giving some serious thought to cloth diapering. I don’t know anyone personally who has used them but I have several friends-of-friends who have used them. I have reached out to some of them and got their feedback, all positive, but I still want to know more before I make that financial leap.
Why do I think I want to cloth diaper? Two reasons.
First, both of my girls have really sensitive skin and break out easily from different brands of diapers. The one diaper that they were both able to use without breaking out were Pampers Swaddlers. I have read a lot about how using cloth, especially with natural bamboo/hemp liners, really cuts down on breakouts and rashes.
The second reason is cost. Whitney is 15 months and will still be in diapers for another year or so. Adding a new baby who will be in diapers for at least 2 to 3 years seems like a big monthly expense for diapers.
In my research “people” suggest having between 15-25 diapers. I have found some brands where 25 diapers is under $200 and some are closer to $450. I know that this would be way less than buying 3 years worth of disposable but it is still a lot of moolah upfront.
Some of these diapers are one piece, others have pocket liners, and some have snap liners. This is where I need your advice mommas! What kind/brand/style/type of cloth diapers have you tried AND is it worth the money? I keep coming back to Bum Genius diapers through word of mouth and research online. Have you tried these? Also, what about reusable wipes?
From one momma to another, HELP!! Y’all tell me what you think and what you like/don’t like.
Let's talk, tell me what you think.
