Weekend Recap: Red, White, and Blue Edition

July 6, 2015 by Katrina Leave a Comment

Ok guys, this weekend FLEW by! It went so fast I barely took any pictures 🙁  Even though it went fast, we enjoyed this weekend very much!

Friday we had a lazy day. I cannot tell you how long it had been since we had a super lazy day! The only reason I even put on real clothes and got ready Friday was because I had an appointment to get my hair cut {and I had already rescheduled this appointment 3 times!}. After that I ran to the grocery store to pick up the necessary items for our Fourth of July menu.

Saturday we hosted friends in the afternoon for a cookout and fireworks. When our friends got here we let the kiddos play inside because it was so hot outside. The guys went out to grill and then we all ate inside. The girls all had fun playing together and watching a movie. When it was dark enough for fireworks, we all went outside to watch. We started playing with sparklers and then…the lightening started! We all went inside and watched to see what the weather would do. We realized that this storm was going to last a while, so our friends all went home before the weather got too bad. Eventually, there was a break in the storm and we took Libby out for a few fireworks, which she loved!

Sunday was a day of marking off things on our to-do lists! I ran to the grocery store to stock up for the week ahead, Lee and Libby went to his mom’s house for lunch, and we priced stuff for a yard sale we are having this coming weekend! It wasn’t fun stuff, but it was all stuff that needed to be done.

I hope you all had a more exciting weekend than we did, and I hope it was filled with {southern} love!

Friday Favorites

July 3, 2015 by Katrina Leave a Comment

Happy Friday y’all!! Today, I’m linking up with Andrea, Erika and Narci and sharing my favorite things on this Friday! I am looking forward to a super fun weekend with friends celebrating Independence Day!

Here goes my first link up EVER!!

one

I am a planner. I never, ever wake up in the morning and don’t have a plan for the day. Some days my plans and times are set in stone, and other days I have a loose plan of things that need to happen that day. I can’t help it, it is just the way I am. I am also a list maker. I can be the most forgetful person if I don’t write things down!! Three years ago I bought my first Erin Condren Life Planner and y’all, it has changed my life!

Everyone who knows me knows that I do not leave home without my planner…ever! I started using my new planner this week and love it. I always say the day is comes is like Christmas for my OCD 🙂

These are my planners from the past three years. Once I am done using them, I store them in my closet. If I ever need to go back and reference anything in them, I still have them.

Everyone is color coded in my planner. That way when I glance at the month page and see “dentist at 2” written in orange, I know it is Lee!

Inside I keep all the happenings for the week. Then, each day I can write down my running to-do list. This year I also bought the grocery list that pops in!

I also buy a couple of notepads for the back. I use them for everything!

two

Our summer project this year was to revamp our back patio to make it a more usable space. One of the finishing touches we added was a bottle opener back the back door. By no means is this a fancy set up, but I sure do like it a lot. I love that the bottle caps are caught and I’m not having to pick them up. Sometimes is really is the little things that are your favorite and make you happy!

The girls and I love to go eat lunch with Lee during his lunch break! We all miss him during the day and it is a way for us to get out of the house and see daddy!

I LOVE watching the Bachelorette this season! I have never been a Bachelor or Bachelorette fan…until now! I started tuning in about half way through Prince Farming’s season and now I am hooked on Kaitlyn’s season too!! I even have Lee watching it with me 🙂

five

Since it is almost the Fourth of July, I have to say our country!

I am the daughter of a Vietnam veteran and the granddaughter of two World War II veterans. I was raised to have the utmost respect for our country and the men and women in our Armed Forces.

We keep a framed picture of my Pa Charlie in his service uniform in our living room.

I hope you all have a safe and fun holiday weekend! We will be having friends over for a celebration filled with {southern} love!!

a day inside our summer

July 2, 2015 by Katrina Leave a Comment

Tuesday I thought I would take you guys inside what a typical summer day looks like for us. These summer days are so precious and seem to go by so fast, so we try to make the most of each day and enjoy our time together!

time on iPhone

At 6:04 I heard this girl wake up….good thing she always wakes up happy and gives you the biggest good morning smile

I set her up to play while I started her pancakes and unloaded the dishwasher

Lee and Whitney had breakfast together

While I made myself some coffee

A little after 7:00 this girl woke up and came wandering in…she takes after her daddy and isn’t a morning a person

libby

Libby ate her pancakes and Whitney practiced walking while I got ready. We didn’t have major plans for the day so sunscreen and lip balm were the extent of my make up today!

Around 7:45 we headed to a park near our house

Before we left Libby put on a “performance” for us!

We got home around 9:15 and the girls played in Libby’s room while I got snacks and a bottle ready

playtime

Libby had a snack and watched Wonder Pets on the iPad. Whitney took a bottle and went down for a morning nap

Next, I moved some clothes over to the dryer

Then Libby and I played with a sticker book she had gotten for her birthday

Whitney slept for about 45 minutes and then we loaded up to run some errands. First, we went to TJ Maxx to return a top. Libby loves to hear music playing when we go in stores. She busts a move and doesn’t care who sees!

dancing

In Target she wanted to try on a tutu

We had a quick lunch of leftover chicken casserole before everyone went down for their afternoon naps about 1:30

napping

I marked things off and then added things to my running to-do list, got things ready for Libby to go to school tomorrow, did a little work on the computer, and folded laundry {while watching a real housewives rerun}

Then had a little quiet time

At 4:00 Whitney woke up and we played and practiced crawling for an hour

I had to wake Libby up at 5:00! Libby asked for pizza for dinner…and who am I to turn down a night without having to cook, right? While I ordered the pizza, Libby asked to play with Whitney in the crib {they both love this!}

While we waited for the pizza to be delivered Libby practiced her counting skills by counting Whitney’s jumps

Lee got home just at 5:30 and he was greeted by Super Libby and lots of hugs and kisses

Soon our pizza arrived

After we all finished eating, Lee bathed both girls while I went through my nightly routine

– clean kitchen & load dishwasher (with delay start)

– pack lunches and lay out items for work/school

-prep breakfast

– lay out the girls clothes for tomorrow

– load the washing machine (with delay start)

– straighten up the house

school

Libby is going to school Wednesday for the first time in a month so I can take Whitney for her 9 month well visit. This will be her first time in her new class and we had extra stuff to lay out to take for the first day.

By 7:30 Whitney had taken a bottle and was sound asleep. Libby needed a new lunchbox, so the three of us searched and found one that she loved from Pottery Barn. Around 8:30 Libby got in her bed for the night. Lee and I enjoyed another hour or so of t.v. and talking before calling it a night ourselves a little after 10:00.

Just a typical summer day filled with lots of {southern} love!
