On March 15th we checked into the hospital at 6:30 am anxious to meet our newest addition.
I had preregistered the day before so we quickly got put into a room. The nurses got me in a gown, started my IV and hooked monitors up to monitor the baby before my C-section.
We waited a little longer than anticipated because another momma came in in labor and was ready to deliver. My doctor had to assist with her birth before taking me back. Lee and I killed the time by watching the morning news. Around 9:15 Lee got suited up and we were prepped to go back.
I was wheeled in to the OR at 9:30. I was given a spinal and prepped before Lee came to join me. At 9:51 we heard a beautiful cry and Dr. Stafford announced we had welcomed a baby BOY!
Emry Nathaniel weighed 8 pounds 14 ounces and was 20 1/4 inches long
Lee and Emry went to the nursery for a checkup, a few shots, and to get cleaned up while I finished up in the OR.
As soon as I got back in the room the nurses brought Emry in and said his blood sugar was 25 and we had to get it up immediately or he would have to be admitted into the NICU. I nursed him and the nurses rechecked his blood sugar, it came up enough to keep him out of the NICU. Throughout the day his blood sugar would continue to rise and that night it fell very low again. I had to supplement with formula for 24 hours until my milk came in to boost his blood sugar.
After lunch on the 15th the grandparents and our girls came to meet Emry.
We are officially a family of FIVE.
Lee, Emry, and I stayed in the hospital until Friday, March 18th. Lee and I enjoyed the time alone with Emry and soaked up every snuggle we could.
We were released from the hospital around lunch on Friday and the girls joined us at home shortly after. By Sunday the grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins who had come to meet Emry left to go home and we were alone as a family of five. Lee was able to take the entire next week off to help with getting everyone adjusted. Libby was on Spring Break that week and we were all together the whole week. It was a sweet time as a family.
The weekend after we came home we decided to venture out. We made our first outing to Five Daughters Doughnuts in Franklin, followed by the Franklin farmer’s market.
One of the vendors at the farmer’s market referred to my double stroller as a “people mover” . I told Lee from now on I will only refer to the stroller as my people mover! HaHa!
The next day was Easter and we joined in on the worship at our church. Emry did great during the service!
Emry is a great baby. He rarely cries and is a great eater and sleeper. Laid back is how we would describe his personality.
We are so blessed to have welcomed this little guy into our family.
