Brain Dump

September 24, 2015 by Katrina Leave a Comment

Whew…I don’t know how it is already Thursday! We have had a busy little week and my brain is tired so a recap in bullets seems the best route to take….

  • Monday was a catch up of weekend laundry {I do not do laundry on the weekends} and washing sheets. To reward myself for all the work I knew I’d get done, I treated myself and the girls to Starbucks for breakfast. We played around the house and recouped from the weekend.

{PS- I love Starbucks fall cups!}

  • Tuesday was Whitney’s birthday!! We went and let her pick out a toy {and Libby a cake pop}, she got to ride in the car buggy at the grocery store, and she ate up lasagna for dinner. She enjoyed her day and she was well loved on all day!

  • Wednesday Lee worked from home. To give him some peace and quiet I took the girls to the mall to run off some energy. They napped on the way there.

We picked up these plates at Pottery Barn Kids while we were there.

And Libby was the line leader The Whole Time!

Then we swung by the house and picked up Lee to go see the baby on ultrasound.

After we saw the little lovie and got a great report we went across the road to look at mini vans. The salesman quickly convinced me that I would never buy anything from him…ever! Libby wants a spooky house to complete our Halloween/Fall decorations so we ran in Hobby Lobby to hunt for one, no luck! Lee dropped the girls and I off at home. While the girls played and I made this, Lee took my car to get oil changed and washed and cleaned out {he loves me like that} .

After dinner I booked our stroller rental and FastPasses for our Disney trip. I am so excited about this trip!!

The girls are in bed and I am distracted by Modern Family, so I’ll end this here. Have a great day everyone!!

A Few {Edible} Fall Favorites

September 16, 2015 by Katrina Leave a Comment

The weather has cooled off slightly and that means warm and cozy fall foods that warm the soul. I have been craving two of my fall favs lately so I thought today I would share them with you all.

The first that I have been eating tons of is Cinnamon Honey Butter. Go make it, make it now!! But only eat it if you aren’t afraid of eating all the carbs in your house. I have been making this recipe for years and the recipe comes from one of my all time favorite blogs and is super simple.

Cinnamon Honey Butter:

2 sticks butter softened

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 cup powdered sugar

1 Cup of Honey

I used tupelo honey from bees that are in hives on my dad’s land in Florida.

Throw all the ingredients in your mixer with the whisk attachment and whisk until combined. Super simple!

I store mine at room temperature so it is easy to spread on biscuits, english muffins, toast…pretty much anything!

My other fall fav that I made the other day was chocolate {cinnamon} pumpkin muffins.

1 box of cake mix {chocolate, devils food, or spice cake are all yummy}

1 can pumpkin puree

a handful of chocolate chips

{not pictured} a dash or two of ground cinnamon

Dump all of the ingredients in a bowl and combine. Divide into a muffin pan and bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes.

Lee and Libby have been eating these for breakfast and snacks. I made these on Friday and today there are 3 left!

While I made both of these on Friday I had a helper watching and learning…

Ok, go make these and enjoy!!

Family Fall Goals

September 15, 2015 by Katrina Leave a Comment

We are starting to get into the fall spirit over here. I’ve been burning my fall candles for a month now but the weather {and football season} is finally starting to get everyone else in my house in the fall mood. We sat down the other day and made a list of things we would like to do this fall. Some are family traditions and some will be new activities as we continue to explore our new town.

This is the list our little family came up with:

one

Go to a pumpkin patch

two

Shop for Halloween costumes

three

Go to a football game {college, NFL, or high school}

four

Make pumpkin muffins

five

Fall arts & crafts

six

Make cinnamon honey butter

seven

Play in leaves

eight

Go to a town festival or fair

nine

Watch Halloween movies together {non-scary ones of course!}

ten

Go to Disney World

Not going to lie, I am probably the most excited about going to Disney World!! I have been planning this trip for years {yes, years}. We were supposed to go last fall and then I found out I was pregnant with Whitney. She was born just a short time before the time we wanted to go…so we postponed the trip a year. Which was really great for me because it allowed me more planning time!

I’ll let you know as we check these things off our list. For now, it is time for me to go fold laundry before everyone wakes up from their naps.
