Halloween 2017
Growing up I lived in a large neighborhood where trick-or-treating was a big deal! People would drive and park in our neighborhood just to trick-or-treat. Our neighborhood is just like that…and I love it. There is something so fun about have streets full of kiddos all running from house to house together. We planned on going around with our friends and neighbors but we got an early start since Emry goes to bed a little earlier than everyone else. Before we could start I tortured tried to get one picture of all the kids dressed up looking at me…this is the best I got…
Elsa, Anna, and Olaf!
I really loved that all of their costumes went together. When we came home after trick or treating I may have started pinning family costume ideas for next year!
This year was the first year Emry dressed up. I was pretty sure he would take off his Olaf hat but to my surprise he left it on all night long!
This picture pretty much shows the excitement level we were working with!
It was finally time to set off on our way!
We started off by going right next door to our favorite neighbor’s house.
It didn’t take Emry long to realize that if you held out your bucket, these people would put candy inside. He trailed behind his sisters and walked up to every single house. He never got cranky or tired, he was a champ! The girls had worked out a system. Libby would look for porch lights, the universal sign for “we are handing out candy”, and would wait and their door. Whitney was the designated knocker and when the door opened Libby would yell TRICK OR TREAT loud enough for both of them. It did melt my heart that at each house all three would say “thank you”. It was a proud parenting moment!!
All three even went across the street to our neighbors who had turned their house into a “super scary house”. I’m positive that at their ages, I would have skipped right past this house. These three weren’t scared at all and marched right on up. Meanwhile, I stayed back on the sidewalk…haha!!
We wrapped it up when Elsa got cold. Each kid came in and watched a little iPad before bed while eating a few pieces of candy. Libby declared it the best halloween ever!!
That was it for Halloween this year. I got up the next morning and started playing Christmas music…tis the season!!
