Nashville Zoo

November 7, 2017 by Katrina Leave a Comment

Sunday we decided it was the perfect weather to take a trip to the Nashville Zoo! We got there just as the zoo was opening so it wasn’t too crowded, which is always nice! We headed first to see the giraffes and rhinos. We had great views of both {but of course I didn’t take a picture of either}….did you know giraffes are my favorite animal at the zoo? Well, now you do! Libby needed a potty break, so while Lee walked her to the ladies room the little two and I found the picnic tables and set up snack time.

Libby is a “collector” and came back with a collection of leaves that she had found along the way.

Right above the picnic area is a zip line. Lee was curious if our ride pass included included the zip line. I thought it did, so he headed off to take a ride.

We all watched and cheered from below. Libby very surely declared that she also wanted to ride the zip line. As Lee and Libby stood in line I was POSITIVE that she wouldn’t actually ride it, that when it was her turn she would change her mind. To my amazement I watched as she confidently hopped on and went for a ride!

Next we saw the meerkats and Whitney did her best impression.

The flamingos were our next stop.

We kept exploring to find more animals.

About this time I realized we were missing one of Emry’s shoes {it had fallen out of the stroller}. We retraced our steps and someone had kindly sat it on a fence post. As I went to put it safely in my diaper bag I discovered that as we were looking for one shoe WE HAD LOST HIS OTHER ONE!! I mean…

Again we retraced our steps…and again someone had found it and put it in a safe place where we could find it. I secured them both in the diaper bag and we forged ahead.

We ended with one more trip down the zip line and a ride on the carousel. It was such a fun trip!

And we left with all the shoes we came with!

Operation Organization: Refrigerator Edition

November 6, 2017 by Katrina Leave a Comment

Welcome Back!! It has been over a year since we talked about organizing so today let’s fix that with Operation Organization: The Refrigerator!!

Last Thursday morning I was making the kids breakfast and I decided that I could not stand how messy my refrigerator was! It didn’t help that I had watched a video from How Jen Does It earlier that morning where she was showing her new fridge organization. {Do you watch How Jen Does It? If you don’t…you should!!} I didn’t have the budget to use the beautiful glass organizers she used but I did think my budget could handle a little run to Dollar Tree for some plastic bins!

Before we headed to drop Libby off at art class I snapped these “before” pictures of my fridge…

We dropped Libby off at art class and the littles and I headed to Dollar Tree.

For good behavior, I let Whitney pick out a snack to have in the car.

This girl had lipstick on and a lollipop the size of her head…she really is living her best life!

{also her diaper is not super full, she was wearing one of Libby’s old pull ups that was way to big and bunching up}

We swung back around to pick up Libby and I got to snap some pictures of her creating her papier-mache mask.

This semester all of their art has been based around animals. Their final project is to create a mask of their spirit animal. This day they started, next time they will paint, and the final week they will add the final embellishments. I am so excited to see how they all turn out!

We headed home to have lunch. While the kids ate lunch I took everything out of my fridge and cleaned the entire thing out. I used the plastic bins I bought and in about fifteen minutes my fridge now looked like this…

Everything has a place now!

An Early Start

November 3, 2017 by Katrina Leave a Comment

Wednesday Lee and I had big plans to get an early start on Christmas shopping.

We had been gifted three $100 gift cards. After daydreaming of all the things I could buy from the new Chip and Joanna Gaines collection at Target, we decided it would be smarter to use these as a part of our Christmas budget. Lee and I both try to avoid crowds, I typically do the bulk of our Christmas shopping online or at smaller local stores. Since it was only November 1 we decided to get a sitter and venture out to check out the toy section and have a little dinner date.

Since Lee and I weren’t meeting until 3:00 the kids and I hung out at home and kept with our typical routine.

Whitney had gotten into the Halloween candy and gotten a Twizzler stuck in her hair. I tried peanut butter, coconut oil, and washing. It wouldn’t come out. I even broke five teeth out of my comb trying! Finally I gave in and realized I was going to have to cut a little piece out.

While I was working with Miss Candy Hair, Libby used PlayDoh to create a face on the dining chair. I had to take a picture because I thought it looked so cool! Libby is our artistic child. She can see and create things that blow me away.

It was windy and we realized that some of our toys in the backyard were blowing away. The girls went out to help me bring toys back up to the house. They got distracted and started playing while I picked up toys and chased an umbrella.

After getting the mud off of ourselves it was time for me to get things ready for the sitter while the kiddos played.

Our SMS sitter showed up {if you are local to Nashville you should give them a try!} I met Lee at Target and we started looking for things on our kiddos Christmas list. After we finished we stopped by World Market to look at area rugs {I think we found one for our living room!!} and then got some New York style pizza!

Before heading home we stopped by the library to pick up some new books and movies for the kids and grab a book I had on hold.

Our sitter, Lauren, gave a great report when we got home. Emry was already asleep and the girls were on their way to bed. Lee and I kicked back and watched Game 7 of The World Series. When it was all said and done this was what Lee’s trunk looked like when we got home…

We still have one of the gift cards left that we can do a little more shopping with, but for November 1, I think we got a pretty good start!
